Lowana Davies is an emerging artist living and working on the Gold Coast. Her growing body of work examines ideas surrounding feminism, the environment and the politics of performance. Lowana is invested in creating social, cultural and political change through her art practice and works across a number of platforms including contemporary art, dance and circus. Lowana’s practice is inspired by amusing and surprising moments, her immediate environment and performance artists Ana Mendieta, Marina Abramovic, Clark Beaumont, Pina Bausch and AES+F. Lowana has presented live, solo and collaborative works across Australia including at Gold Coast City Gallery, WhiteBox Gallery, Brisbane Powerhouse Theatre, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Glitter Festival, Two-High Festival, The Western Australian Circus Festival and Bleach Festival. In 2017 Lowana will undertake a residency and solo exhibition at The Walls Art Space and is a current participant in the inaugural City of Gold Coast Level Up youth arts incubator and Navigate Young Artist Development program.
