Tessa Bergan is an emerging visual artist based on the Gold Coast. Her practice extends across sculpture, video, photography and installation. Past work has explored ideas of control, particularly in regard to unknown and unknowable outcomes. This has developed into her current interest in the effects of human-induced change on the environment and the consequences for us as individuals and communities. Generally focusing on one or a few object(s)/subject(s) in each of her investigations, Tessa’s work tends to take on a minimalist style, with repetition (of the object, action or movement) operating to create a mediative effect. Some outcomes of her work include kinetic sculpture, public installation and multi-channel video installation. Tessa is a current participant in the inaugural City of Gold Coast Level Up youth arts incubator and Navigate Young Artist Development program.
